Popping back in...

Journal Entry: Tue Jul 8, 2008, 3:16 AM

Welcome

Well, that was an unexpected hiatus... I'll see about making a few new things before the month is over.

To those using my images... please at least provide a link back. :\ I am starting to see some of my pixel pieces on Livejournal with no mention.

Projects

Lying in bed a few minutes ago I came up with a project idea that I cannot wait to make happen. I am going to attempt to make a Pullip doll customization of my character, Lilune. The outfit will be a drag to have to sew (let alone design the full thing, since I've only pixeled/dolled her entirety once), but her face will be fun to do. I have the bait doll already; parts and paints will come next.

There will definitely be pictures. ^^

There've been a few new events lately. The most recent one was a kidney infection of absolute doom that made my back and sides swell to the point where I couldn't sleep in bed; after about a week of antibiotics it went away, and has since left me with a crick in my neck from having to sleep on the floor. A friend of mine also passed away about a month ago after being in a really bad car accident. Both of those kind of wrecked the season for me.

Bleh.

Games

:typerhappy: The main reason for the hiatus was honestly involvement in mmorpgs. Ever since GW got old (and GW2 was postponed till 2009) I've been back and forth between Rappelz and 2Moons; Rappelz is my favorite, but 2Moons lets me have a break from healing, despite playing the only healing class in the game.

My favorite classes seem to always be necromancers/dark magicians/you get the idea and healers/priests/clerics/etc. The two are combined in 2Moons, which lets me solo as much as I want while dealing considerable damage, but lets me heal myself and others when things get hairy. Admittedly, this system is more appealing than a lot of the other games I've read on. Healing gets to be a pain in the royal ass after so long.

Nothing at the moment. I am open to suggestions.

Eden Enchanted at an end

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 19, 2008, 6:42 PM

Welcome

Eden Enchanted is closing. :cries: After all these years of being one of the top dolling forums (and definitely one of the busiest... hi, 3000+ members!), it was decided amongst the staff that the original creators had other interests, and that Eden was better off being laid to rest at its peak. Eden will definitely be missed. Hopefully we can all keep in touch through here or other forums.

Corrupted Carousel has a decent sized following so far and is attracting more each day. The theme is fun and pretty variant, and the censorship is entirely minimal. No need for blood or gore warnings here, and swearing is pretty much passed over as common, as long as it's not excessive. :)

The movie "The Forbidden City" was actually very colorful and amusing to watch. The witch looked fantastic, despite being so young (in my opinion); I want her outfit. I want it NOW. The flashing of light blue and white every time she jumped or spun was amazing, and her white hair was brilliant. The wig cap kind of showed in some scenes, but nevertheless... very pretty.

The Guild Wars 2 beta should be starting soon; I can't wait to try this. I've been putting off playing Guild Wars as it is to keep from being burned out on mmorpgs before the new one arrives. GW2 is going to introduce different races on top of all the professions that GW1 offers, and there will be new actions available, like climbing ladders and possibly swimming. On top of that, it's FREE to play. :typerhappy: Muahahahaha!

If you still have Eden on the brain, you should message me. ;) I am looking for some opinions, insight, ideas, and perhaps a bit of collaboration. B-) Only if you have time, of course.

Really... awake.

Welcome

I spent the past 15 minutes searching from artist to artist and going through each of their favorites, looking at and favoriting all the beautiful pixel dolls, random objects, and digital paintings that I've never seen before. A few of these artists have me inspired to try out new bases; I can't wait till I get another free minute.

I had my first theft/frankendoll discovery today as well. *sigh* A humble moment first... I admit that my first few moments in dolling years ago were fueled by Sayclub inspiration, and I have admittedly copy-pixeled before. Everything that was too close to its inspiration has since been deleted; I want to be proud of my own art. After this event, however, I can see and feel that rage that bursts through when you see someone putting their name on your art. I don't find it to be flattering that someone thought it was "good enough" to steal, though, as some artists have said in passing. In short, it pisses me off. It's 1:39am, and this is what I get to think about before I sleep. Gah.

What is worse than the discovery itself is that it was someone that was familiar with me, knew who I was, and is friends with someone that I've interacted with a few times in the pixel art community. To say the least, I'm kind of hurt. I am, however, going to be big about it and not start dropping names or links. To my knowledge, I have done the most that I can about the situation, and I have faith that it will be fixed. Let's hope, anyway.

Suggestions?

Journal Entry: Fri Apr 11, 2008, 3:35 PM

Welcome

I gave in and bought a subscription. Even if only for banners in the journal, it was worth it. :)

I just broke 2,000 page views last night or early this morning. Out of all the views and favorites, it seems like everyone liked the random Pikachu pixel the most (by far). I'm not sure if it's just Pikachu specifically or Pokemon in general that get the most hits, but if people liked it this much, I'm willing to try another.

What would you have me attempt to pixel next? These are not personal requests; I am taking suggestions and may have a few new pixels of them by the end of next week. What would you want to go along with Pikachu? Clefairy, maybe? Bulbasaur? Haunter? Name it.

In the real world... I am so done with background extra work. Yeah, it's fun to point at various TV shows and say, "I was on that!" or go to movies and see myself running or loitering off to the side, or to be able to say that certain actors are really nice/bizarre/perverted/funny/etc. Crispin Glover is absolutely insane; in a good way, but a little bit creepy.

The jobs can be fun, but at the same time, they aren't worth the amount of travel and the stress of being "paired" as a couple with a guy who is not my boyfriend and being expected to act "coupley" with him. It's also not worth having to wake up at 6am to get to Burbank by 8am, sit around for three hours, and stay on set for twelve. I guess I'm just over it. There's enough under my belt to be able to brag for another year, anyway. Hell, I got to be in Cloverfield and was featured on the trailer for Moonlight. Ha!

What sucks is that I'm going to have to find another part-time job that leaves me with enough time for college and free time for pixeling/being lazy.

Nuts.

A Year Passed, and I'm back.

Journal Entry: Wed Mar 19, 2008, 1:58 PM
Well, a bit over a year... almost two. A friend from the pixeling community found me on a different site and reminded me about pixel art, and after thinking it over a bit, I decided to attempt it again when I can find the time.

My college classes are calming down a bit, though the English class is getting to me. It's not so much grammar or essays; that's cake to me. We're doing "group projects," though... in English. The key detail behind it is that we're being graded individually, but that hasn't stopped anyone from attempting to ride each other for a grade. >_<

Background work is starting to progress as well, now that the writers' strike in Los Angeles is finally over (YAY!). Our casting company was dry as far as work went for about five months during all of that, but the 3-day HBO shoot this week is making up for a little of that.

I'm hoping to pick up a Wacom Tablet this week or next and attempt digital painting, but that's iffy. I'll probably just keep to pixel art for the time being.

Glad to be back!
